Payam Afzali is the Chairman and CEO of A1 Capital, leading the firm’s efforts to drive Iran’s clean energy
transition through strategic investment and execution of high-impact renewable energy projects. With a background in investment banking and strategy consulting, he has a proven track record in managing large-scale projects across MENA, Western Europe, and East Asia.
His expertise spans multiple industries, including banking, FMCG, TMT, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, petrochemicals, and manufacturing. He has played a pivotal role in scaling fast-growing companies in emerging markets, fostering strong client-stakeholder relationships, and designing critical path strategies. As a founding member of a financial institution, he helped grow the firm from a four-person startup into a regulated, technology-driven financial group with 400 employees in just seven years.

With a deep understanding of capital markets, corporate strategy, and operational execution, Payam works closely with business leaders, investment funds, and family offices in the Middle East to navigate complex investment decisions and strategic challenges. He has also advised sector-leading CEOs of both listed and private corporations on long-term development initiatives.
